Brandon McIntosh

Brandon is a founding member of the Seattle Raga Institute and current President. He is a disciple of the sarod meastro Padma Bhushan Pandit Buddhadev Dasgupta, as well as Pandit Sugato Nag, and Sri Jeff Lewis. Brandon has his undergraduate and masters in music and has been a devoted student of the vast ocean that is Indian classical music for over 25 years. He has had the opportunity to perform throughout the United States, India, Russia, Belgium, and France. Brandon has developed a unique way of approaching and teaching Indian classical music on the piano and guitar - he has drawn inspiration from his masters in Western music as well as his years of guidance with his gurus. This unique style of piano playing is a halmark of the Seattle Raga Institute.
Josh Humphrey

Josh Humphrey is a senior instructor for Seattle Raga Institute, and head of the Guitar area. He has studied guitar for over 30 years, pursuing Western classical, rock, and finger-style and Hindustani guitar. Josh earned his Master of Music degree from the University of Oregon, as well as a bachelor of Music degree from Central Washington University.
Since 2003 he has been devoted to the study of Hindustani music, receiving tabla training from Ustad Sabir Khan and Sri Kunal Roy (Farrukhabad gharana, Seattle Tabla School). He currently studies in the Senia Shah-Jahanpur gharana, and has taken classes with Pandit Buddhadev DasGupta. Since 2012 Josh has been focused on the Raga guitar, in both design and performance/teaching, in conjunction with his friend and guru Brandon Macintosh.
In addition to working as an instructor with SRI, Josh teaches Shop at Morgan Middle School, is on the faculty of the Art and Music departments at Central Washington University, and is the owner and operator of JBH Guitars, a custom hand-builder of acoustic guitars and other stringed instruments.(www.JBHGuitars.com).
