About SRI

The Seattle Raga Institute strives to be the benchmark for teaching North Indian classical instrumental music in the greater Seattle area. We not only want to be the best place for you or your child to learn Indian music, but we want to teach students to be leaders - both in the classroom and in the community.

In our academy we have have 5 levels. We train beginning students to advanced students, all the way until they are ready for the professional stage. Each level has particular techniques, theory, and raags that must be prepared and presented in an exam. Once the students go through all the 5 levels, they perform a full-length recital in front of a live audience or make a professional full-length album. This is really the beginning of their journey as a mature musician. Don’t worry if this sounds intimidating, everyone starts out as an absolute beginner and learns the skills necessary to reach this milestone.
