WHAT WE TEACH
Our school is unique in that we not only focus on music but also focus on teaching kids how to become teachers, and volunteers, and give back to their communities.

Music
In our academy, we have 5 levels. We train beginning students to advanced students, all the way until they are ready for the professional stage. Each level has particular techniques, theories, and Raags that must be prepared and presented in an exam. Once the students go through all the 5 levels, they perform a full-length recital in front of a live audience or make a professional full-length album. This is really the begging of their journey as mature musicians. Don’t worry if this sounds intimidating, everyone starts out as an absolute beginner and learns the skills necessary to reach this milestone.

Leadership
Once students are in High School and have passed their teacher training, we give these kids a chance to become employees of the Seattle Raga Institute! Each teacher is taught how to teach, what to teach, and guided in every step of the process. This has been one of the most successful parts of our program.

Volunteering
Once kids are in High School, they have the opportunity to join the SRI Youth Board. The youth board is a blast and the impact it has is real. We have raised money for Oxgen for India, Tryphoon relief, Seattle homeless, Marymoor Dog Park, and prepared meals for homeless teens in Seattle by partnering with Amirta Seattle. The youth board also designs and leads the SRI Summer Camp, which is a super hit.
